Guide to a Happy and Healthy Life

a spiritual perspective

Within Buddha’s teachings we find clear guidelines not only on how to live a happy and meaningful life, but on how to live a healthy one. In this course we will look at some of the key components. These teachings, drawn from Geshe Kelsang’s books and personal advice, will give us clear and practical guidelines to create both mental and physical well-being. We will investigate such things as eating, exercise, rest and relaxation from a spiritual perspective, so as to clearly integrate a healthy lifestyle with our spiritual practice of improving our minds and our hearts along our path to enlightenment. Everyone is welcome.

Transforming Conflict through Skilful Action

The Four Enlightened Actions and the Role of the Dharma Protector

We often respond to conflict with fear, inhibition or anger, causing our own unhappiness and the difficulties in our relationships to increase. Buddha taught four types of enlightened actions known as the four ‘siddhis’ or attainments. By applying these, we will learn how to overcome our inhibitions in the face of conflict and learn to respond skillfully to difficult situations and people. In this way, our daily life difficulties become sources of inspiration for our spiritual training, helping us to become the confident, skilful and kind person we wish to be. Even more we will develop the skills to help others as well.

Through talks and guided meditations, Kadam Morten will guide us to an understanding of these enlightened strategies for dealing with conflict. He will also show how learning to relate to the Dharma Protector Buddha, Dorje Shugden, can greatly aid us in this practice.
